Save Money On Your Electricity Bill

How can you easily cut your cost of living? One easy simple way you can cut your cost of living is to save on electricity. Yes. A simple easy adjustment to your every day living can put money back into your pocket.

Do you realize certain appliances use electricity even when they are turned off? Even when turned off power continues to be used. A perfect example of what I mean is your computer. Computers use a ton of energy. Your VCR, DVD, CD Players and TVs use energy even when they are turned off too.

One evening I was watching the news and one of the topics were "how to save money on your electric bill". I thought to myself what a simple adjustment I need to make in order to save money.

The first thing I did was buy a new "surge protector". The "surge protector" I bought has six plugs (socket spots) on it. At the end of the "surge protector" there is a large switch to turn the power completely off and back on when needed. I then spent one afternoon rearranging my appliances and plugged all of them into my new "surge protector". I also made sure I can reach the "surge protector" easily without the need to move any appliances around and my entertainment center was organized looking good.

After I rearranged my entertainment center, I started to turn off the entire "surge protector" when I would leave my house for the day. Most of the time when I leave for the day I'm out of the house for at least eight hours per day four days a week for work. At least once a week I'm out of the house for the day just because I'm out and about. Wow, when I received my electric bill a couple of weeks later I noticed my electric bill was about $13.00 lower than usual. I continued to turn the "surge protector" off the following month and noticed my electric bill was $27.00 lower. Can you see how making a few easy simple changes can save you money on your electricity bill?

OK, because I started to see a significant difference in my electricity bill I then decided to replace my light-bulbs. I purchased four energy saver light-bulbs and put them into two lamps and the other two into two rooms I use everyday. Wow, when I received my next electric bill I noticed I saved just over $30.00.

Because I took the time to rearrange my appliances and because I took the time to adjust my habits I now save about $350.00 per year off of my electric bill.

I hope my experience saving money on my electric bill helps you realize you too can save money on your electric bill. Take the time to rearrange and purchase a "surge protector" and replace a few old bulbs with new "energy saver" light-bulbs. You can save a significant amount of money throughout the year.

Thanks for the reminder. I saw it on TV as well and after reading your hub I just made myself a note to start saving energy tomorrow.
